Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, which restores volume to the aging face. As you age the collagen beneath the skin naturally begins to break down. This collagen gives your face volume and shape. As a result of the collagen breakdown, wrinkles and lines begin to form. Instead of “filling” the lines, Sculptra works differently; gradually stimulating the replacement the lost collagen. Essentially, it restores lost volume and improves facial contours without the downtime of a facelift.
This is an in-office procedure. You will have a topical anesthetic on for 45 minutes. A local aesthetic will also be used to minimize discomfort. You may have mild swelling following the procedure. Bruising is possible but temporary and can be easily covered with makeup.
Sculptra is a subtle, gradual treatment that doesn’t make you immediately look like you’ve had work done. As collagen is replaced, it provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness by correcting your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds.
Possible side effects include injection site discomfort, redness, bruising, bleeding, itching and swelling. Another rare side effect is a small bump under skin that will resolve with or without treatment.
Our doctors treat all of their Sculptra patients.
Only a Board Certified Dermatologist or a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should inject Sculptra. They are the only specialists who have been certified and trained by Sculptra to perform injections. Our physicians are Board Certified Dermatologists and have extensive training in cosmetic dermatology.
